1) Pharmacology and Toxicology of alternative & complementary health practices (ACHP); and

2) Behavioral Toxicology (AKA Addiction Medicine). There is currently no American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) recognized certification in Addictions for MD's who are not psychiatrists, other than Medical Toxicology. Dr. Trachtenberg's board eligibility in toxicology was granted by the ABMS, based on his experience in the treatment of addictions and drug detoxification. Dr. Trachtenberg is currently working with the American Board of Preventive Medicine (ABPM) and the American Society for Addiction Medicine (ASAM) to create an ABMS board certification in Addiction Medicine, but this will take several more years to achieve.
